Australia Team Overview
Team Preview: Australia
Our second preview comes from the Southern Hemisphere stars, Australia. Currently ranked 1st in the world, the “Steelers” as they are nicknamed, will be looking to continue their winning ways at the BT WWRC15.
The Australian team is mixed with experience and talent. Players including Ryley Batt, Cody Meakin and Chris Bond know what it takes to win at the highest level and are blessed with game changing skills. A key feature of this team is quick ball handling and off loading. Being able to unlock the sternest of defences with a quick and inspired off load is where Australia excel!
London has proved to be a happy hunting ground for the Steelers, having won Gold at London 2012. Since then, they have been the dominant force in Wheelchair Rugby. Their victory over Canada in the 2014 World Championship final was their maiden World Championship and truly broke up the dominance from the North American teams.
Australia’s pool includes hosts Great Britain, speed merchants Japan and an improving French team. It would be hard not to expect Australia to qualify for the Knockouts.
